Here is a quick re-cap of our week:
We spent the first part of our week focused on PROCEDURES! We created a list of Classroom Expectations together to ensure that the rules in our classroom can and will be followed by everyone. We also took the time to sign our names to these expectations to show that we understand and agree with these rules.
We have also learned just how important it is to become a friendly community of learners and friends by reading Have You Filled A Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids. I was so impressed at how many ways my students listed as ways to "fill a bucket". As a follow-up to this activity, each student was given a puzzle piece - their goal was to use their creativity to decorate their piece and then come together to discover the secret message! After each piece was set, we had a reminder for everyone to "Be a Bucket Filler!"
We have done a lot of writing this week to get back into the "Writer's Workshop" routine! Each student completed an "About Me" page and created a mini-person to hold their information. It is amazing how many of their mini-people looked just like them! Check out the windows outside our classroom to meet "Miss Smith's Super Second Graders!"
Your student also wrote how they felt about 2nd grade by completing the sentence "Second Grade is Going to be Super because..."
